Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all Royters readers.

As a general rule I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions. There seems little point in making rash promises in the heat of celebrations that, for the most part, you have no intention of keeping.

However I did a little forward planning for 2010 at the end of last year and have decided that a couple of small resolutions mightn’t be a bad thing. My sister who I’m visiting at the moment in Invercargill has given me some advice - she told me not to say that I’m going to lose 5 kg, so I won’t.

Instead my 2010 New Years Resolutions are :-
1. To come to grips with social networking, starting with Facebook and Twitter
2. To pass an Army Fitness Test (RFL) by the beginning of March

Keep up the good work

Keep up the good work Heather. We watch you all the time on the news and in the paper. Very wise use of taxpayer money!

Progress report on New Year

Progress report on New Year Resolutions:

I'm getting the hang of twitter and can now tweet by text - see the latest two tweets on the right hand sidebar of each web page. More followers are always very welcome so do sign up.

To pass the Army Fitness Test I need to run 2.4km in 11 minutes 50, do 15 press ups and 118 sit-ups. I'm fine on the sit-ups, improving with the press ups and the running is always the hardest, but training is easier in the quieter holiday period. At the moment I'm aiming at running the 7km 'Round the Bays' in Wellington on Feb 21st. If anyone is keen to join me, let me know (email through the 'contact' page). It's always an ACT team event and for those not keen on running there is always the walk.
